Accord ME!

Honda’s revelation of the all-new accord last year is undoubtedly surprising but expected, following toyota’s new camry, mazda’s 6, and the leading BMW 3 series which they all fell on the same category! Honda somehow is adamant that this new model will be competitive in the market and will battle the likes of the above.

With sharper, more aggressive styling and some very bold body contours compared to its predecessor, the new Accord certainly demands to be noticed as I did when I saw it middle last year turning my head around. The squat new appearance is the result of wider front and rear tracks a lower roofline and comes with a rolling 17" hardy wheels.

Inside, the theme "bigger is better!", which only means that there is more than the usual leg room and head space. Not to mention more room for those signature Honda details! There is a dramatic new fascia finished in premium materials plus the Bluetooth system that is becoming a standard for vehicles nowadays. Driver's seat has a 10-way power adjustment including power lumbar support to fine tune your unique fit. The model also comes with a moonroof, another 'thing' for upscale sedans.

Honda claims Accord is the first car to boast an engine line-up that is entirely compliant with the Euro 5 emissions regulations. Environmentally friendly for short!Lolz. Arguably the star of the engine range is the new 2.2L i-DTEC engine that delivers 110kW and 350 N.m. As before, two petrol engines are offered, with the 2.4L delivering slightly more power (149kW). All three engines are matted with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, but a five-speed auto is offered and features Grade Logic Control system that puts an end to gear-hunting when climbing uphill or driving back down.

As all motor company claims that they are committed to providing safety for everyone, so as HONDA! Her "safety" includes a Vehicle Safety Assist system that helps sense oversteer or understeer in an emergency situation, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel or reduces engine power to help the "stupid driver" restore control. Other safety standards comes along; ABS, (TPMS) tire pressure monitoring system, and all-around airbags.

I guess that's all about her. Putting more words would make the bitch a star already!LOlz. For more info you can check her at your nearest Honda sites or set an appointment with the lovely Ms. Angela of Honda Lahug (09235345746) or online at www.honda.com.

Volvo XC60

“ She’s the safest Volvo ever built!”

On the weekend I was driving to Toyota Mandaue to check on the Toyota Prius but due to my skeptical schedule I decided to stop at Volvo’s when I passed by and thought of covering the XC60. I have been seeing several of it running around the city already, so why not! The sales dick, I meant, man welcomed me and discussed the XC60. Sensing that I’m not a potential buyer but just a passing enthusiast he didn’t give me the chance to test drive. So I wasn’t able to actually USE her. Another crap is the dick didn’t allow me to take pictures. If I have the luxury of time I would have him explain to his manager but I let it through since I’m in a rush. The heck it’s a public display who says I can’t take shots!? Anyways enough walking with my tongue here.

Volvo claimed this as the safest car they ever built. Should also be one of their most attractive SUV to date. Although noticeably less glitzy than the CX60 Concept that has gone before, the production is nevertheless a very classy offering, with subtly rising belt line, muscular shoulders and a racy profile.

The sugar here is the introduction of the of a system called “City Safety”, that goes standard on all XC60s. This new system will help the “stupid driver” avoid or somehow reduce the effect of low-speed impacts which is very common within the confines of the city. If the XC60 is about to drive into the back of the vehicle in front of it, the City Safety system will automatically brake the car, or even to a stop if necessary. FYI: the City Safety System is only active below 30 km/h, and will brake the car automatically if an accident is imminent and the driver does nothing. So if you’re running above that then you’ll surely kiss your front car’s butt!

In the inside, it’s the usual Volvo comfortable and class, with the slim-line centre stack hangdown section that has become the norm in recent new models. The cabin I must say is spacious, with good levels of head and legroom all-around, while still offering a large boot. (what’s with me? It’s always the boot!Lolz)

The XC60 engine range offers a turbocharged T6 powerplant that pumps out 210kW. Now that’s Volvo power! A turbo diesel is also available with output of 136 kW. The XC60 rolls in “All Wheel Drive” (AWD) fitted as standard on all variants. Having an electronically controlled clutch, the AWD system automatically distributes drive between the front and rear wheels. Nonetheless online Volvo announces that a front-wheel driven 2.4L diesel version with 122kW power output will be made available sometime this year. Guessing to have it there in the country maybe early next year.

Although the standard fitment of 17- or 18-inch wheels (19-inchers are optional) may lead us to believe that the XC60 is not meant for the rough stuff, but it does however boast a very impressive 230mm ground clearance according to the specs I have read. So maybe she will do.Lolz. But who would want Ms. XC60 get mud?Lolz I rather stay rolling on the city with her!

Mazda3 Hatchback Remix

I still remember it when I try to convince my dad to buy a mazda3 sedan and ended-out him buying the hatchback in effort of my mom's taste on it. She just simply said, "I like it better because it looks cute". All hail to my mom! goodbye beyonce butt!Lolz. The new Toyota Altis was then a coming so we never considered it and decided between the civic and the M3. Volvo C30 is not an option since its outside budget.hehehe. Although Mazda3 has been in the market since 2004, it's different with the hatchback because it only came later around 2007 and now it has grown out a new face again.

For the compact car category the new MAZDA3 is beautiful, i mean Rachel McAdams beautiful! At par with Volvo's C30, and I can still see the Honda Civic 2009 at the back and a little further is the Toyota Altis. Out of my keen eyes are the Nissan Sentra, Kia Rio, and Hyundai Accent. I can't even start naming the china creeps!Lolz. Stay invi uglies! "louder" Lolz.

A closer "out" look suggests that what we have here may just be a huge facelift, the front and the back bumps to be exact. While the chassis and the body still looks similar to the old 3. The most noticeable are the front fascia lines ending in a subtle wedge-shaped hoodie. And the Nagare-inspired "adaptive front-lighting system" (first for the compact segment) in all ready self-leveling Bi-Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights. Nagare, which means flow in Japanese, is Mazda's infamous concept vehicle first seen at the 2006 LA International Auto Show. It has also grown a second tail giving a sporty dual exhaust outlests with chrome tits...i mean tips! Like the new 6, it is a few inch longer than the old model so it's a new model altogether.

Then we talk of the "in" look and as expected the new Mazda3 will not come in shortage. The already upscale cockpit is made more sporty rich with the addition of the BLUETOOTH technology. While the old audio system has been replaced by a 10 speaker BOSE centerpoint sorround audio a.k.a go holler with FloRida.hehehe. Another UP for this lovely is the "keyless entry and start system" which means you could have her up already while you're still brushing your teeth. While storage remains the same as the old.

Contrary to the "face-lift" suggestions, the new 3 now has a 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder engine under its hood versus the old's 2.3 (also available is 1.8L). The new engine also offers an added 6-speed manual or a 5-speed sport automatic transmission with manual-shift mode (Techtronic System).

So that's it. If you're planning to buy a new car and is sighting for the Honda Civic or City or any of the running-old soon compact cars today, i might suggest holding those horses a little longer until these lovely beast reach our shores this year or early nest year. This is a new model that comes with the goodies!

She's coming! the all new HONDA CITY 2009

"Honda may now have the weapon to take on the all mighty Vios!"

The all-new face lift of the grumpy has already been unveiled, and it's making echoes around car enthusiasts already. Your first sighting of this compact sedan would definitely be the exterior style that gives it a radical departure from the previous model. It does feature some new visual elements that you'll also find on all other remodeled Honda cars. While the sharp butt makes it look more sporty although it does look like a reminiscent of the 3 series. Anyways, Honda obviously always try to be the BMW of the east. Now if you don't look at the details, and concentrate on the silhouette of the car especially the side profile, you’ll notice that its almost exactly like the current model civic. But who cares, their like siblings you know, of course at some part they should have resemblance. And I say she's a worthy little sister of the good looking Civic! I can't help it, judging cars is almost the same as judging girls. Look at the girls’ rear and front ‘bumpers’ first. :-)

Nonetheless, the new Honda City is based on the platform of the award winning new Honda Jazz, and benefits from the many of the technologies seen in the new hatchback. The longer wheel base gives a significant improvement in interior space as well as the associated ride and handling benefits. Safety performance is also enhanced with the adoption of the ACE Body Structure (Advanced Compatibility Engineering), which better protects occupants of both cars in the event of a collision between vehicles of different heights.

Unfortunately for those planning to buy, you have to wait a little longer since according to the sales agent that i talked to recently, the model will be available not until march 2009th. Although it is already available in countries like Thailand, China, Singapore, and Malaysia. Surely we could wait, it does look hot.
